Sizzle mah schizzle! Saturday, March 13, 2010 was an uber special day for ladies! In celebration of Women’s Week, SM City Cagayan de Oro, along with top retail brands Penshoppe, Mint, Folded and Hung, Maldita and Bossini, hosted the “Hot Hunks Fashion Show” featuring no less than the current toast of the local fashion world, Brazilian-Japanese (Brapanese) hottie Akihiro Sato.
For the uninitiated, Akihiro Macieira Sato is a 6 ft 1 inch stunner born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He used to model in Thailand but now he has decided to grace the Philippine shores with his amazing looks and pleasing disposition and has decided to live here for good!
Be still my heart!
So of course, who wouldn’t want to go to SM City CDO to catch this cutie?

So along with some friends, Mindanaoan went and waited for the arrival of this certified Hot Hunk. Before his grand apparition, however, there were some local hunks who graced the stage, to the delight of the female spectators.

Hello, fellow Mindanaoans! Are you ready to flip-flop your way to a once-in-a-lifetime experience in Brazil? If you’re a Havaianatico (i.e. a person who loves Havaianas and the Havaianas lifestyle) then do read on!
The answer to my earlier question better be a resounding YES as world-famous fashion brand Havaianas kicks off its new Happy Soles campaign for Havaianaticos 18 and above. This campaign celebrates the fact that Havaianas has been both a witness and a reminder of Filipinos’ happiest moments. A constant companion on everything from beach trips to food trips, Havaianas has trekked up mountains, walked down wedding aisles and danced under the pale moonlight. For many happy soles, Havaianas is a daily reminder of moments spent with friends and filled with laughter – moments that define who we are.
So here’s the thing — The winner of this “Happy Soles Will Travel to Brazil” campaign, along with three friends, will fly to Brazil on an unforgettable, all-expense-paid retreat, complete with travel must-haves from Havaianas, Sony, David and Goliath, and Aloha Board Sports.
Isn’t that uber exciting?

Simply answer the question “If anything was possible, what would you do to make the world happy for a day?” as creatively as possible and you could get the chance to win an all-expense-paid vacation for four to the land of sunshine, Brazil.
Answers can be recorded via the Havaianas roving video booth (the booths will visit Davao City and Cagayan de Oro City…read more after the jump) that will travel to key malls nationwide or uploaded on the campaign website: www.havaianasphilippines.com/happysoles. The top ten happiest and most creative entries will be shortlisted by a board of judges that includes a representative from the Brazilian Embassy, magazine editor Pauline Suaco-Juan, travel blogger Anton Diaz, Capoeira guru Professor Fantasma, and the Managing Director of Havaianas Philippines. The public will then decide who of the ten will be awarded the grand prize through online voting at the campaign website. The remaining nine finalists will also walk away with prizes from Havaianas and new Sony CyberShot cameras.
Mindanaoan has always been very curious of Iloilo City, the largest province in Panay Island. We’ve all heard the many stories about this beautiful city – just how malambing Ilonggos are, just how fascinating the tourist sites are, just how delicious their delicacies are, just how booming their business sector is and just how warm and friendly the people in Iloilo are.
So when I recently got the chance to travel to this beautiful city located at the Western Visayas Region, I no longer had second thoughts. Off I went to the city formerly called “Irong-Irong.”
From Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao, I took an airplane ride going to Cebu City (roughly 30 minute ride). From there, I took another flight, this time from Cebu to Iloilo (roughly 50 minute flying time). If you’re in a bit of a hurry, taking plane rides is the best and easiest way for you to travel from Mindanao to Iloilo. Of course, it may be a bit more expensive than taking the RORO ship or a bus.
When my plane finally landed on Iloilo soil, this welcomed me:
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, have you fellow Mindanaoans thought of what to give your special someone in order to make February 14 extra special? Make this day of hearts special by rewarding yourself and your partner with a pair of fun and colorful Havaianas!
Because, really, there’s nothing more fun and more romantic than dressing up to match your partner.
This Valentine’s Day, gear up for your date by bringing out your shared sense of style. Match the colorful worlds at your feet with select styles of Havaianas, and add more happiness and romance to your relationship.
So whether your little rendezvous will happen in the city or out-of-town, here are some chic style suggestions to make your Valentine’s Day extra special.
Take Me to the Beach
Most couples head to the beach for a little rest and recreation on V-Day. And why not! The beach has always been a good place to walk around in style. This love month, bring out the flowing sundresses for the women and the comfortable linen for the men and match it with their favorite Havaianas flip-flops. For the beach bums, choose bright colors such as the yellow Havaianas Brasil Logo for men and the yellow Havaianas Slim Jelly for women. Havaianas Batik for men and burnt orange Havaianas Fit for women is an equally bright combination.
Mindanaoan will again be on a very-proud-sister-mode. My professional photographer-brother Bon, along with fellow photographer Onat Neri, was invited to be one of the official sponsoring photographers of Miss Liceo Emerald, a pageant held at Liceo de Cagayan University, one of the bigger colleges in Northern Mindanao. The Miss Liceo Emerald pageant is only held every five (5) years so yes, it’s pretty much a big deal.
Speaking of SPONSORS — my brother Bon and I were treated shabbily and, I daresay, rather rudely, in a recent event. More about this in the succeeding days. Stay tuned.
Here are some of the photos taken of the Miss Liceo Emerald 2010 candidates:
