Gaisano Mall of Davao, one of the large malls in the world’s most livable city, now has a large, spacious cinema equipped with lazyboy (or rather La-Z-Boy) seats! For only P150.00, you can enjoy sitting on a very comfortable, cushiony seat with foot rest at the Red Carpet cinema!
The theater is very spacious and you get a lot of extra leg room. What I did notice, however, was that the seats come in two. Meaning if you’re going to watch a movie solo, there may be a possibility that someone else will also occupy the adjoining lazyboy seat. So I guess the Gaisano Mall of Davao Red Carpet cinema encourages catching flicks with a friend
You also have your very own cup holder and extra space for small things (like perhaps your cellphone or car keys).
It’s not my first time to watch in a cinema with recliner seats or seats with foot rests, though. I like watching movies at Greenbelt Cinema in Makati and at Gateway Mall Cubao (the former has a cinema with recliner seats and foot rests) and my favorite so far – the Director’s Club at SM Mall of Asia. At the latter, you get your very own La-Z-Boy seat (solo!), the next seat is about a meter away (so you get the feeling that you’re in your very own recreation room) and you get unlimited popcorn and a drink. However, there’s a catch — tickets cost at least P300.00 So you see, the Gaisano Mall of Davao Red Carpet cinema ticket price of P150.00 is already A-OK
The Gaisano Mall of Davao Red Carpet cinema with lazyboy seats is located at the very entrance towards the cinema area at the topmost floor of the said Davao City mall. You can’t miss it – it’s the only one with a mini reception area (complete with a cute egg chair!) and well…fully carpeted floors

BREAKING NEWS! Filipina actress Angel Locsin was nominated for Best Actress in the International Emmy Awards! Locsin is nominated for her title role in the popular ABS CBN Channel 2 series “Lobo” (”The Wolf” in the International Emmys)
“Lobo” was Locsin’s first TV series under ABS CBN Channel 2, following her controversial departure from GMA 7.
Angel Locsin, along with Piolo Pascual, starred in a movie shot in Bukidnon, Mindanao and in Australia. Read more about the tales from the shooting of “Love Me Again” here.
Congratulations Angel!
“Maalaala Mo Kaya,” a drama anthology program aired via ABS-CBN Channel 2, will visit Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao! On August 7 to 9, 2009 at the Limketkai Mall in CDO, the staff of ABS-CBN’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya” will be on hand to accept letters and stories from the public. Selected stories may then be featured in future “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episodes. The stories and letters will be accepted during mall hours.
Will a Mindanaoan’s story be the next to be featured in MMK?
I remember that the 1994 Maalaala Mo Kaya movie starring Richard Gomez, Aiko Melendez and Chin Chin Gutierrez was based on a story of a Mindanaoan – a Davao City resident. That was a pretty controversial film, too, as some people apparently wanted to question the veracity of the story.
Anyways, if you want to share your story, head on down to Lim Ket Kai mall on the aforementioned dates. Who knows, not only will your story be depicted on national TV, your favorite celebrities might even portray you!
Charo Santos-Concio is the host of Maalaala Mo Kaya. This drama program has been on air since 1991.
Too bad for people who want to watch Mindanaoan superstar boxer Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao share the silver screen with Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger (a Filipino-American-German). Solar Films’ Wilson Tieng has confirmed that Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger has dropped out of Manny Pacquiao’s Metro Manila Film Fest entry, “Wapakman.” Sayang!
That could’ve been a great movie to watch…just imagine our fellow Mindanaoan Manny Pacquiao squaring it off with Nicole!
Also, Tieng has confirmed that Fil-Am wrestler Dave “Batista” Bautista will also not be in the movie.
I’m not too sure if this Topel Lee-helmed movie has started shooting already. In any case, I still hope that Filipinos will still watch “Wapakman” even though Batista and Nicole aren’t part of it anymore.
Here’s the trailer of “Wapakman” (pretty funny!)
