A must-try in Davao City: Wine quartet at the Apo View Hotel

by Mindanaoan Irene. 0 Comments

As part of the Apo View Hotel Davao’s 65th year of operations and a first of its kind in Davao City, the Philippines’ second longest operating hotel has launched the unique Wine Quartet, whereby diners can savor a set of 4 carefully and thoughtfully selected wines to match their favorite dishes at Entree, Apo View Hotel Davao City’s buffet restaurant. Definitely a great way to match good food with good wine!

Under the Entree Wine Quartet promo, you get 4 glasses of wines for only Php 250.00. You can taste 4 different wine varietals: two white wines (Torrontes-Sauvignon Blanc and Macabeo) and two reds (Tahuna Pinot Noir from New Zealand and Castillo de Almansa from Spain). The wine choices will be changed every month but the price will remain the same.

The Apo View Davao Entree Wine Quartet is a fun way to explore food pairings. And fun you will surely have since Entree has an extensive array of dishes – from appetizers to salads to mouthwatering seafood to all-time favorite international cuisine.

For first time wine drinkers, white wines go well with salads, soups, maki and fish dishes. Red wine like the Pinot Noir will go well with pork, duck and pasta while the “heavier” Castillo de Almansa will complement best with beef and desserts.

So the next time you’re in Davao City, book a room at the Apo View Hotel and try the Wine Quartet at Entree. Take your foodie journey to another level.

Entree buffet prices – Php 630.00 for lunch and Php 750.00 for dinner.

Book your Apo View Hotel Davao room here.

See you at Entree ;)

Photos: Save Me Hollywood at Bukidnon San Miguel Beer event

    by Mindanaoan Irene. 2 Comments

Hi everybody! This Mindanao blogger was in the Province of Bukidnon for the Kaamulan Festival, a yearly gathering of Bukidnon’s 7 hill tribes.

One of the festival highlights was the much-awaited San Miguel Beer Night or SMB Night, which was held last March 10, 2013 at the Capitol Grounds, Malaybalay City. My dearest friends Jojo and Jacquee invited me and a bunch of other friends to watch the SMB Night concert, which was headlined by no less than iconic Filipino band Rivermaya and up-and-coming pop funk band Save Me Hollywood :) VIP treatment – backstage access – seats nearest the stage (although my friends and I chose to be a part of the moshpit instead!) and here’s the coolest part – unlimited San Miguel Beer! :D Thanks so much SMB, Jojo and Jacquee!

Allow me to share some of the photos I took that night of Save Me Hollywood. This band plays rock, pop punk and alternative music. Fronted by ex MYX VJ Juliann Savard, Save Me Hollywood band is composed of Carlos Calderon (of Chicosci), Melvin Macatiag (of Typecast), Aaron Corvera (of April Morning Skies) and Ariel Lumanlan.

MAC Cosmetics Archie’s Girls Collection Launch In Cebu

      by Mindanaoan Irene. 0 Comments

I was so excited when I got an invitation to attend the grand launch of MAC Cosmetics Archie’s Girls Spring Collection 2013 in Cebu City. The timing was perfect! I was actually in Cebu for the Social Media Influencers Summit 2013 and I always welcome additional events to attend especially if time permits it anyway. So I immediately said yes to the invite-only MAC Archie’s Girls launch in Cebu!

The MAC Archie’s Girls makeup collection 2013 Cebu launch was held last March 16, 2013 at the Ayala Center Cebu Activity Center. The place was packed with so many eager MAC Cosmetics fans!

I spotted TV host Bianca Gonzales, celebrity makeup artist Jigs Mayuga and fashion bloggers Kryz Uy and Camille Co. I also met Atty. Christina Garcia-Frasco, the daughter of Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia and wife of Liloan Mayor Duke Frasco, and Mike Acebedo Lopez, who’s a part of Boy Abunda’s “The Bottomline.” It was a nice chance meeting, actually! It was truly a pleasure to finally meet the two of them :) They were both so nice!

Of course, I also spent a considerable amount of time inspecting the stars of the show that day — the Betty and Veronica makeup line! :D The items were sooo pretty!!!

I wanted to buy the Betty Bright lipstick, the Betty Powder Blush and the Ronnie Red lipstick but can you believe they all got sold out?! Apparently, a lot of the guests who came in early practically spent serious cash that day and the stocks got wiped out! Crazy! So with a heavy heart, I just asked Jaja and Vanessa, the two lovely ladies behind Bigseed PR, to let me know right away once stocks are available :/ My birthday’s coming up in a few days and I want to treat myself to those goodies!

By the way, can I just say that I was so impressed with how the event was handled? From the food to the setup to the “Archie” to the “Betty” and “Veronica” to the dancers – no details were spared. I loved how the waiters served soda pop – exactly how we all saw it on our beloved Archie’s Comics!

Congratulations MAC Cosmetics, Bigseed PR and to everyone involved in the Cebu launch! It was truly a lovely afternoon :) Thank you so much for the special invitation! :D
