The U.S. Embassy in Manila invites everyone to take part in their photo contest, the Sakay Na! Jeepney Photo Challenge. The US Embassy in Manila says that interested participants can just submit their best original photos featuring Philippine Jeepneys to compete for a chance to win prizes. “We see the Jeepney as a symbol of U.S.-Philippine friendship,” said U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Officer Robin Diallo. “The earliest Jeepneys were constructed from jeeps brought to the Philippines by the United States during World War II, but since that time, they have evolved in beautiful and creative ways.” Jeepneys express the unique culture of the various regions of the Philippines, as they differ in style and design from place to place. Given the historical connection of the Jeepney t...

Typhoon Sendong (international name: Washi) claimed thousands of lives, left tens of thousands of homes damaged (some damaged beyond repair, some totally wiped out) and basically left so much destruction in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan - two cities in Northern Mindanao, Philippines. Both cities are still trying to cope - so much still needs to be done. Still, I'm happy to share with you all that amid ongoing relief and rehabilitation operations, there also are movements from various sectors of society to REBUILD both cities. In Cagayan de Oro City in particular, there's a movement called "Barog, Kagay-anon" (Move, Kagay-anon), a series of activities that aims to revive CDO tourism. Tourism, after all, can do wonders for a city. We all know that the more tourists, the better the economy and...

It all just started with a tweet...and I really did not think that it would all lead to this. As you guys may or may not know, I'm an avid Twitter user. (You can see and follow my Twitter account HERE) Just a few hours ago, Sunday night, December 18, 2011, I was monitoring tweets about Typhoon Sendong when I noticed GMA 7 Network reporter/journalist Joseph Morong ask a certain @iammarlonramos (who turned out to be Philippine Daily Inquirer reporter Marlon Ramos) if he was serious. Curious, I checked what the tweet was about. Apparently it was a reaction to Filipina celebrity Valerie Concepcion's tweet that she was at a party in Malacanang (the PSG Christmas Party, to be exact) and that the Philippine President Benigno Aquino III was there. Now for those of you who don't know, two cit...

So I told you guys earlier that I was going to meet John Lloyd Cruz. Like I previously mentioned, it was not my first time to meet John Lloyd Cruz - the man once called by a magazine as The Most Beautiful Man In The Philippines - but it was the very first time that I had a truly unexpected, scary, exciting, scream-inducing, kilig-to-the-bones experience with John Lloyd Cruz. BUT I'm getting ahead of myself! Let's back track a bit. John Lloyd Cruz was in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao last December 3, 2011 for his Grand Fans Day cum 5th Anniversary as endorser of Biogesic. John Lloyd Cruz (or as fans fondly call him, JLC) has been a Biogesic endorser for 5 "Ingat" years and to mark the occasion, they have conducted a nationwide tour, held in cooperation with ABS CBN Mag TV. That was my second project for Citihardware CDO. The first one was during the opening of its Citihardware Bulua branch. The Citihardware CDO 10th anniversary event was held at its newest and by far the second largest Citihardware outlet in the entire country - Citihardware Tablon (the largest one remains to be its Davao head office). Hundreds of people attended the event including suppliers, partners, local barangay officials and tanods and yep, members of the CDO Bloggers! (Yay, thanks guys for the unwavering support!) Kung ulanin ka nga din naman ng suwerte ;) I'm set to meet whom Yes Magazine once called the Most Beautiful Man in the Philippines --- John Lloyd Cruz. This will actually not be the first time that I'll see John Lloyd Cruz in person, though. I've watched that ABS CBN Sunday show ASAP live a couple of times. When my family and I built a new house last year, our contractor only went to one place for all the construction materials, fixtures, tiles and floor covers, electricals etc - CitiHardware. Citihardware is a depot-type of retail outlet and it carries everything that you need for the home. Truth be told, I myself like going to a Citihardware branch even if I don't really need anything immediately. Because believe me, I can and I will find something that I'd end up realizing that I actually need at home! With over 35 stores all across the Philippines, the nearest Citihardware branch isn't difficult to find. And with those many stores across the Philippines, it sure is the fastest growing hardware chain in the country. In Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao, alone Citihardware now has 3 br...

I love coffee and I like staying in coffee shops. In Cebu, one of my favorite coffee shops is Coffee Dream. I often stay at their Ayala Cebu branch - the one at the 4th floor -, at their SM Cebu branch - the one within the old mall, fronting VECO - and during recent Cebu City visits, their booth at the Traveler's Lounge, also located at SM. While I know that they have branches in Mindanao (Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City and General Santos City), it's just unfortunate that I've never had the chance to visit one. Until a few days ago. Through the kindness and generosity of Sir Glenn and Miss Anna of Coffee Dream, I was able to visit Coffee Dream SM Cagayan de Oro. In fact, I was even able to bring along several blogger-friends, too! We visited the SM CDO branch of Coffee Dream on a Sa...
