Mindanao is my native land. This is where I belong, feel secure and am at peace. To be in Mindanao is to feel the embrace of a warm, soft blanket.

Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanaoan Update, Photos, Weddings

Barely two days before the May 2010 elections, Mindanaoan met up with my very talented professional wedding photographer-brother Bon for a pre-nuptial photo shoot in Manila. The game plan was supposed to be simple – two days for the pre- wedding photoshoot and another two days for another wedding photography gig in Tagaytay. Alas, I had to fly back to Mindanao to exercise my right to suffrage (just a fancy way of saying that I needed to vote :D ) plus I also had to monitor the standings of my political client-candidates (as you may or may not know, Mindanaoan is a political publicist. Check here for my other activities) And so, I was only able to serve as second photographer for my brother for a day.

Still, I had major fun shooting and assisting my brother, who’s a professional wedding photographer in Cagayan de Oro.

The theme of this pre-nuptial photoshoot, by the way, is “urban love” or “love in the city.” We shot at Fort Bonifacio, Greenbelt and Rockwell, among others.

Just in case you or someone you know need a wedding photographer in CDO or an event photographer who can travel anywhere in the world, please don’t hesitate to CONTACT ME (click here). We’d be happy to be a part of your special day! Rates are negotiable so please feel free to inquire :)

Here are some of the photos taken during that day: (the soon-to-be bride hails from CDO, Mindanao, by the way, but she and her fiance are now based in Manila)

So here’s part two of my earlier blog post about my road trip to Ozamiz City, Mindanao. Please do read my earlier post to know how I traveled to Ozamiz City from Cagayan de Oro City, what I rode in order to reach the Ozamiz Port and what my initial impressions of the city named after Jose F. Ozamiz were.

I was in Ozamiz City a few days ago for a wedding photo coverage gig with my professional photographer-brother Bon and Onat. My role, by the way, was of a very excited 2nd photographer :)

That wedding photography gig was a welcome respite for me as I’ve been busy as of late with politicians, events, travels and political-related PR and of course, with the campaigns. Thankfully, that chance for me to travel and to take photos came and I immediately joined Bon.

My brother Bon’s clients were Garry and Quennie, a lovely couple. Both of them currently work in Dubai and were only back in the country for several weeks for bonding with family, a little R and R and of course, for the big wedding :)

Below are some of the shots taken during Garry and Quennie’s wedding in Ozamiz City. The rest of the photos may be viewed here.

And if you or anyone you know need a wedding photographer (we can travel all over Mindanao, all over the Philippines and even all over the world!), please don’t hesitate to CONTACT ME. We charge very reasonable rates and all rates are negotiable! You can also contact me by calling or sending a text message to any of these numbers: (+63) 919 238 6575 / (+63) 922 934 7198. You can also send me email by clicking this page or sending it directly to mindanaoan (at) gmail (dot) com.

To Garry and Quennie – may the good Lord bless your union and thank you for letting us be a part of your very special day! :)

Hi guys! Thanks for visiting my humble blog about Mindanao and Mindanaoans :) I know I haven’t been posting much the past few weeks…and I have good reason! Mindanaoan has been traveling here and there and more often than not, I end up being so tired to even lift a finger let alone write about my escapades.

Thankfully, this blogger from Mindanao is home (at least for the next few days) and I’m back to sharing with you all the sights and sounds of Mindanao.

One of the things that I got to do last week was travel to Camiguin Island, Mindanao. Along with my professional photographer-brother Bon and his assistant Gary, we covered a simple yet very romantic wedding in Camiguin, also known as the “Island Born of Fire.” It was the wedding of Erwin and Karen. Erwin’s from Bukidnon and Karen’s from Camiguin. Both of them work in CDO, though.

I served as Bon’s 2nd photographer. We arrived on a Friday and it was raining cats and dogs. The wedding was held the next day and it was STILL raining cats and dogs! So yes, covering the wedding – from the preparations to the ceremony to the reception was quite a challenge! However, all’s well that ends well :) My brother Bon, Gary and I also treated ourselves with a quick trip to Ardent Hot Springs and then dinner at Parola.

Here’s the video slideshow presentation of their engagement photos by the way:

Following their wedding engagement shots taken at both Xavier Estates and Initao Park, Initao, Misamis Oriental, my brother Bon (who’s a professional wedding photographer and who proudly banners “Fresh Fun Funky Photography!”), Aye, Louie and I, Mindanaoan, then provided the wedding photography services for Sherwin and Ching.

A very nice and loving couple now based in Thailand, Sherwin and Ching were game for just about anything you want them to do for us wedding photographers to capture those very special wedding shots!

Take a look at some of the pre-nuptial shots here.

Wedding photography is really special and fun. It feels great to be a part of a wonderful celebration of love, unity and commitment. To be a wedding photographer (and a female one at that, I must say!), I think, is an amazing privilege.

If you (or anyone you know) may need a wedding photographer in Cagayan de Oro City or a wedding photographer in Davao City or just about any area in Mindanao and the rest of the world (yep, we can travel where you are :D ), please don’t hesitate to CONTACT ME.

We would love to be a part of your special day!

All rates negotiable. We can also refer professional wedding videographers, coordinators, flower providers etc. We also provide special “extras” for the couple – FREE pre-nup shoot, FREE photo slideshow, FREE online version of the couple’s album etc. Please feel free to CONTACT ME :)

So this Mindanao blog is finally back on track! :)   If you’re a regular visitor of my humble blog, you may have noticed a couple of changes in the past few days. Because my blog has turned one year old, I wanted a new, fresher look. Hence, after hours of searching for a good, clean and functional Wordpress theme, I finally settled for this Typogriph theme. Do you guys like it? I do! :D I think my posts are easier to read now and my blog looks wide! :) My old theme, Revolution Church by Brian Gardner served me so well and I would like to thank Brian for letting me have a free copy (the Church theme can now be purchased at a reasonable price) and for letting me use it for an entire year. Thank you very much, Brian!

I’ve also installed additional useful Wordpress plugins – one of which is the retweet Wordpress plugin. As you may notice, you can now “retweet” all of the blog posts found here in Mindanaoan. Check out the buttons found on the upper right. So if you’re a Twitter junkie like me (I’ve had my account for two years now, I think), it’s now easier for you to share each Mindanaoan blog entry :) Go on, try and retweet this! :) [and follow me on Twitter, too!]

Also, in celebration of my blog’s first year anniversary, I will launch a blog contest very soon. I want it to be “unique” – something that could benefit real Mindanaoans. Please stay tuned.

In the meantime, allow me to share with you a few of the photos I took during a pre-nup shoot. Recently, I served as a 2nd photographer for my brother Bon, who’s a professional wedding and fashion photographer in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao. Post processing credits go to him, by the way. More photos can be found at his official website.

We shot these engagement photos at both Xavier Estates in CDO and then at the Initao National Park, Initao, Misamis Oriental. If you’re an avid photographer like me, I assure you that you’ll like the place! The Initao National Park is a 57 hectare natural forest with diverse flora and fauna. Initao is about half an hour away from Cagayan de Oro City. Entrance to the park is 10 pesos a pop.

By the way, if you need a wedding photographer in Cagayan de Oro City or in any other areas in Mindanao, please don’t hesitate to CONTACT ME. My brother and I would love to assist you on your special day! :)
