Hello, fellow Mindanaoans! Are you ready to flip-flop your way to a once-in-a-lifetime experience in Brazil? If you’re a Havaianatico (i.e. a person who loves Havaianas and the Havaianas lifestyle) then do read on!
The answer to my earlier question better be a resounding YES as world-famous fashion brand Havaianas kicks off its new Happy Soles campaign for Havaianaticos 18 and above. This campaign celebrates the fact that Havaianas has been both a witness and a reminder of Filipinos’ happiest moments. A constant companion on everything from beach trips to food trips, Havaianas has trekked up mountains, walked down wedding aisles and danced under the pale moonlight. For many happy soles, Havaianas is a daily reminder of moments spent with friends and filled with laughter – moments that define who we are.
So here’s the thing — The winner of this “Happy Soles Will Travel to Brazil” campaign, along with three friends, will fly to Brazil on an unforgettable, all-expense-paid retreat, complete with travel must-haves from Havaianas, Sony, David and Goliath, and Aloha Board Sports.
Isn’t that uber exciting?
Simply answer the question “If anything was possible, what would you do to make the world happy for a day?” as creatively as possible and you could get the chance to win an all-expense-paid vacation for four to the land of sunshine, Brazil.
Answers can be recorded via the Havaianas roving video booth (the booths will visit Davao City and Cagayan de Oro City…read more after the jump) that will travel to key malls nationwide or uploaded on the campaign website: www.havaianasphilippines.com/happysoles. The top ten happiest and most creative entries will be shortlisted by a board of judges that includes a representative from the Brazilian Embassy, magazine editor Pauline Suaco-Juan, travel blogger Anton Diaz, Capoeira guru Professor Fantasma, and the Managing Director of Havaianas Philippines. The public will then decide who of the ten will be awarded the grand prize through online voting at the campaign website. The remaining nine finalists will also walk away with prizes from Havaianas and new Sony CyberShot cameras.

Thanks to SPRUCE Designer Network, Inc., to its owners Trisha and Vanessa Tamparong and to its very amiable marketing officer Cristina Maagad (Hello, Miss Tiny!), I had a blast at the recently concluded Make Your Own Havaianas 2009 Cagayan de Oro leg event. The MYOH 2009 Northern Mindanao event was held last October 23 to 25, 2009 at the Atrium, Limketkai Mall, Cagayan de Oro City and it was my very first Make Your Own Havaianas experience!
Armed with my VIP invitation, I went to the Atrium and left with a huge smile on my face! It was fun “creating” my own special pair. No wonder Havaianaticos look forward to this special event!
The whole process was not only fun but pretty fast, too. I was given a brochure where I was to write my contact information and for me to choose my preferred sole color, size and style (there were adult slim and top styles available), preferred strap color and style as well as my preferred Havaianas Lifestyle Pins.
It was easy to choose since there were specially designed “wheels” which you can use to compare colors, style and to mix and match straps with soles.
Since this year’s theme is “Put some local soul into your step,” I chose four Culture Pins that depicted Filipino pride — the vinta, jeepney, sorbetero and Philippine map pins.
There are also other available designs such as a lomo cam and Swarovski crystals.
As soon as I made up my mind on how my masterpiece should look like, I approached a member of the Havaianas team and she assembled my special pair for me…on the spot! That was a first for me, too, by the way…it was the first time for me to witness firsthand how a pair of Havaianas was assembled!

Listen up, all you Havaianas fans! There’s a day-long treat in store for all of you in a Havaianas Beach Resort and Spa somewhere in Samal (or should I say Island Garden City of Samal – IGaCOS) Davao City, Mindanao…but only if you write a one-page essay stating why you love your Havaianas. You must email that essay along with three creative photos of you wearing your Havaianas pair/s to martish.marketing@gmail.com and if you’re lucky, you get to spend a whole day Havaianas adventure in Samal on March 21, 2009 (Saturday). Deadline for submission of entries is on March 14, 2009. By the way, winners, their friends and VIP media guests will be grouped into teams during the island event and the champion team will receive P20,000.00 cash.
