Hollywood star, HBO “Entourage” producer and former rapper Mark Wahlberg loves a fellow Mindanaoan, too! This picture clearly shows just how big a fan of Filipino boxing champ Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao Mark Wahlberg is!

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen Mark openly support the Pambansang Kamao, though. I’ve spotted him on TV doing the red carpet along with Pacquiao.

Well, this information’s straight from Erik Pineda, Manny Pacquiao’s business manager, so I guess this one’s true! Pacquiao is reportedly set to do a movie with Rambo himself, Sylvester “Sly” Stallone. In fact, the duo reportedly met at Stallone’s office in Los Angeles, California last January 6, 2009. During the meeting, Sly even gave the Pacman’s two sons, Jimwell and Michael, a pair of boxing gloves which bore the signature of former world light-heavyweight champion Tony Tarver. Still, this piece of development shouldn’t be treated as a 100-percent-fully-done-and-waxed type of deal. Everything’s still in the planning stage.

Erik Pineda was quoted as saying that it’s “not a boxing movie but something like ‘Rush Hour’ (a Jacky Chan-Chris Tucker hit.”

Looks like Manny, who’s a certified Mindanaoan by the way (since he was born in Kibawe, Bukidnon and grew up in General Santos City), is going to be a Hollywood star soon! Does this mean that Manny’s doing double time duty on polishing up his English skills?

While I’m not a huge Stallone fan (I think I’ve only watched one Rocky Balboa flick and that Rambo film…it takes a lot for me to be convinced that he can fight all those bad guys on his own, you know!), I’m still a bit excited over this idea of a Stallone-Pacquiao Hollywood movie. After all, Sly is an Academy Award-nominate actor and he STILL has lots of fans all over the world. And, of course, we all know how Filipinos all over the world love Pacman. This flick will definitely be worth watching out for.

Just when I thought Hollywood heartthrob Josh Hartnett’s Mindanao-set film will never see the light of day here in the Philippines, word has it that it will be shown (finally!) this year, 2009.

“I Come With the Rain” is about a former Los Angeles cop turned private investigator (played by Josh Hartnett). Kline, the character played by Hartnett, goes to Hong Kong in search of Shitao, the son of a Chinese billionaire who has gone missing. He meets former colleague and now Hong Kong cop Meng Zi and they collaborate. The big twist in the movie, though, is when Kline is distracted from his search of Shitao. He gets haunted by memories of the serial killer Hasford (played by Elias Koteas) who was the reason Kline quit the L.A. police force in the first place.

Well, it seems “I Come With the Rain” will be a hit among the guys since it’s another police flick. It will be for sure a hit among the ladies since it’s packed with boys with guns, men with muscles and gang leaders who smoke too much. In other words, this movie is brimming with testosterone. Personally, I’d probably be shrieking over the handsome Josh too much.

I’ll definitely watch this movie, not only because it’ll be full of suspense, car chases, gun fights and fist fights (do I sound like an advocate of violence?), but because it was partly filmed in Mindanao (but of course!) “I Come With the Rain” was shot partly in Mount Diwalwal in Davao. I could actually remember all the fuss and flurry when Josh arrived — it was pandemonium! Which, of course, was understandable since Josh is a certified charmer (obvious na ba na girly girl ako over Josh?)

There’s no specific date yet as to when this movie will be shown here in the Philippines but by golly all Mindanaoans will definitely watch out for this!
