Do you have plans of attending the Kadayawan Festival 2009 in Davao City this month? If you’re looking for one more event to check out during this much-awaited Davao City festival, then why don’t you head on down to Garden By The Bay Resort in Lanang, Davao City on August 21, 2009, 9PM for the “WAVE: Beach. Breeze. Booze.” event?
Dance to the music of DJ KEELO and DJ MAXIE of CLUB VUDU Cebu City. DJ ZHAUN will also be on the mic pumping up the party! The event, according to the organizers, will also be featured on TV.
This Kadayawan 2009 Beach Party will also see the participation of various henna tattoo artists and fire dancers.
Tickets are sold for P250. Open bar from 9PM-11PM on selected cocktail drinks. Prizes will be given to lucky guests.

Listen up, all you Havaianas fans! There’s a day-long treat in store for all of you in a Havaianas Beach Resort and Spa somewhere in Samal (or should I say Island Garden City of Samal – IGaCOS) Davao City, Mindanao…but only if you write a one-page essay stating why you love your Havaianas. You must email that essay along with three creative photos of you wearing your Havaianas pair/s to martish.marketing@gmail.com and if you’re lucky, you get to spend a whole day Havaianas adventure in Samal on March 21, 2009 (Saturday). Deadline for submission of entries is on March 14, 2009. By the way, winners, their friends and VIP media guests will be grouped into teams during the island event and the champion team will receive P20,000.00 cash. The much-awaited Kaamulan Festival 2009 in Bukidnon, Mindanao, Philippines is set to begin on February 18 and I myself cannot wait to join in the festivities! The Kaamulan Festival is the largest festival in Bukidnon and is largely renowned as the only remaining authentic ethnic festival in the Philipines. Kaamulan is an indigenous Bukidnon term for “gathering” for any purpose. It can also mean a datuship ritual, a wedding ceremony, a thanksgiving festival during harvest time, a peace pact, or all of these together.
I was furnished a tentative schedule of activities for this year’s Kaamulan Festival celebration in the Province of Bukidnon by the Bukidnon Tourism Office and although I can say that there aren’t that many changes from previous celebrations, there are still a lot of things to look forward to.
This year’s celebration will kickoff by February 18 and will end by March 10, the very day when Bukidnon is set to celebrate its 92nd Foundation Day.
The Kaamulan Festival, which began in the year 1977, is an ethnic festivall featuring the province of Bukidnon’s seven (7) hill tribes namely Tala-andig, Higaonon, Umayamnon, Manobo, Tigwahanon, Matigsalug and Bukidnon.
Activities during the Kaamulan Festival usually include a bazaar, garden show, food fest, agri-fair, rodeo, motorcross, concerts, pamuhat (traditional exercise), ethnic songwriting workshop, ethnic dance clinic, piniliyapan (Bukidnon Dances), a much-awaited ethnic street dancing competition (Sayaw Sayaw Ta Dalan), barn dance and various other rituals which showcase the rich culture and beliefs of tribal Bukidnons. There will also be a battle of the bands this year, a concert to be produced by a large telecoms company, another concert to be sponsored by the Provincial Government of Bukidnon and Bukidnon’s very own Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, an airsoft tournament, a mountain bike tournament and a basketball tournament.

The 2nd Mindanao-wide I.T Convention dubbed “Quantum and I.T. Convention” will be held on January 23-25, 2009 at Marco Hotel, Alwana Business Park, Cagayan de Oro City.
With the theme, “Enriching Mindanao I.T. enthusiasts for global competence,” the confab aims to promote information technology in Mindanao as well as smart technology, current and emerging web technologies, 3D technology and e-commerce. The event is organized by XCEL, Quantum and Information Technology Convention (QITC) and AIMS.
QITC is an innovation of 2 groundbreaking activities of two renowned organizations in Xavier University (Ateneo de Cagayan) united to accomplish a common goal.

Calling all photography buffs out there! A photography workshop for a cause will take place on Friday, December 5, 2008 in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao. Beneficiaries of the event will be the street children of Agora, CDO (Agora is where the CDO public market is)
Registration fee only costs P500.00 and there will be five speakers – all of whom have proven their skills and talent in the field of visual arts, photography, layout and design.
What’s also great about this workshop is that an on-the-spot photoshoot along with Cagayan de Oro City’s top models will serve as the day-long event’s culminating activity. This is because renowned Kagay-an fashion designer Gil Macaibay III will showcase his designs via a fashion show at Ghana Bar and all the workshop participants will be part of the photographers’ pool.
There will also be a model during the workshop itself. Organizers tell Mindanaoan that one of CDO’s beautiful faces and in demand model, Natasha Mills, may become the model. How’s that for inspiration to all of you photographers?
