Answers can be recorded via the Havaianas roving video booth (the booths will visit Davao City and Cagayan de Oro City…read more after the jump) that will travel to key malls nationwide or uploaded on the campaign website: www.havaianasphilippines.com/happysoles. The top ten happiest and most creative entries will be shortlisted by a board of judges that includes a representative from the Brazilian Embassy, magazine editor Pauline Suaco-Juan, travel blogger Anton Diaz, Capoeira guru Professor Fantasma, and the Managing Director of Havaianas Philippines. The public will then decide who of the ten will be awarded the grand prize through online voting at the campaign website. The remaining nine finalists will also walk away with prizes from Havaianas and new Sony CyberShot cameras.

Considered unprecedented in the Philippine blogosphere, a top ranking United States Embassy dignitary is set to grace the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3 on October 24, 2009 in Cagayan de Oro City. Deputy Chief of Mission Leslie Bassett, along with Mindanaoan leaders and leading new media experts, will grace the summit this year, which holds the theme, “Mindanao: Bag-Uhon Ang Panan-aw”
(Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao, Philippines – October 21, 2009) – Considered unprecedented in the Philippine blogosphere, a top ranking United States Embassy dignitary is set to grace the much-awaited Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, which will be held on October 24, 2009, 8am to 5pm, Pearlmont Inn, Limketkai Drive, Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao.
Deputy Chief of Mission Leslie Bassett will deliver the keynote address during this year’s summit, which holds the theme, “Mindanao: Bag-Uhon Ang Panan-Aw.”
Bassett’s trip to CDO will be her first trip to Mindanao since assuming office last June. She previously served as DCM in Mexico.

Following the FREE wi-fi launches in other SM malls including SM City Cebu, SM CITY Cagayan de Oro now offers FREE wi-fi access! FINALLY! So now SM CDO does not only offer uptown shopping, dining and entertaining experience…they now also offer free Internet! Yay! 
SM City Cagayan de Oro had its free wifi launch event last October 18, 2009 at the Atrium, Ground Floor area. Unfortunately, Mindanaoan wasn’t able to attend since I was in Davao City at that time. I did hear that everyone who went had a good time, though!
The CDO Bloggers, this year’s organizers of the much-awaited Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, were invited to the event. Gifts were given away and there even was a best blog contest that day. Fun! Thank you very much for the SM City CDO management for inviting the group!
SM City CDO, by the way, is one of the sponsors of the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, which will be held on October 24, 2009. The theme of the event will be “Mindanao: Bag-Uhon Ang Panan-aw.”

Interested to visit Camiguin Island for this month’s Lanzones Festival 2009? Check out the Camiguin Lanzones Festival 2009 schedule below. The 30th Lanzones Festival of the Island of Camiguin aims to give tribute to…well, what else…but the delicious lanzones fruit. If you haven’t tried lanzones from Camiguin, Mindanao yet, you’re missing a lot! Camiguin lanzones are best known for their sweet taste.
If you’re heading on down to Camiguin Island, don’t forget to bring your camera, lots of suntan lotion (Mindanaoan highly recommends that you visit both Mantigue Island and White Island), swimwear and other travel essentials…just don’t bring sand, please! There are funny (but cute!) things to see in the place dubbed as “Island Born of Fire.”

The award-winning DSS Fireworks of Dumaguete City bagged the grand prize in the recently concluded 1st Cagayan de Oro Fireworks Competition (Pyrolympics) held at the Gran Via Lot (beside SM City CDO). DSS Fireworks, a four-time grand champion of Buglasan Festival in San Carlos, also got the top prize during the Sinulog Festival 2009 fireworks contest.
Mindanaoan was among the thousands of people who trooped to the Gran Via Lot last August 29, 2009 to witness the fireworks display. I went with my brother Bon, who fortunately brought his motorcycle. You see, that event caused very heavy traffic at the Pueblo de Oro area (and I mean really, really heavy traffic) but because we were aboard a motorcycle, we were able to avoid the traffic bottleneck/congestion.
That night was a good one although it rained a bit early in the evening. The event also got delayed for about an hour and a half since event organizers had to ask for clearance from Lumbia Airport. Accordingly, organizers had to wait for the takeoff of the last evening flight out of the CDO domestic airport.
Congratulations to DSS Fireworks! And of course, happy fiesta to all Kagay-anons!
