Mindanao is my native land. This is where I belong, feel secure and am at peace. To be in Mindanao is to feel the embrace of a warm, soft blanket.

Mindanaoan - Blogging the REAL Mindanao!

Mark your calendars! Mindanao pride Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao will definitely face off with 28 year old Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto on November 14, 2009 at MGM Grand Las Vegas Nevada. Miguel Cotto is the current welterweight titleholder while our very own Filipino boxing champ Pacman won the boxing junior welterweight title this year after beating down Briton Ricky Hatton. As we Pinoys all know, Hatton lucked out after only two rounds.

manny-pacquiaoMindanaoan and General Santos City’s son Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto have reportedly agreed on a 145 pounds weight limit. The Pacquiao versus Cotto fight will be shown via HBO Pay Per View, according to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum.

I think I’ll avail of our local cable TV company’s offer of PPV access again. After all, nothing beats watching a Pacquiao fight live!

What about you?

Who’s your bet?

Guess who’s celebrating her birthday today? Super sweet and nice Juliana Palermo, of course! This Mindanaoan beauty is celebrating her birthday today, July 12. Go greet her! (I think she has a Juliana Palermo public page in Facebook)

Born July 12, 1985, Alvi July Juanico (this is Juliana Palermo’s real name) is a true blue Dabawenya and naturally, a Mindanaoan. She bagged the Hiyas ng Kadayawan 2002 beauty title.

Happy birthday Juliana!

Mindanaoan Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao will again star in a major Nike commercial — but this time, he will be joined by two other sports giantsNBA star Kobe Bryant and golf sensation Tiger Woods. I may be wrong…but I think that while this isn’t Pacquiao’s first time to do a Nike commercial, this is the first time that he will film a commercial with Woods and Bryant.

As expected, this will be one very explosive commercial…one that Pinoys, most especially Mindanaoans, will look forward to.

This much-awaited Nike commercial featuring Manny Pacquiao, Kobe Bryant and Tiger Woods will reportedly be shot in Los Angeles on July 8, 2009.

Meanwhile, check out this cool Nike superstars commercial featuring Pacman, Kobe, Cristiano Ronaldo, Maria Sharapova and others: (this one’s for Nike Hongkong)

All right, so I was in Cinema 3 of Gaisano Mall of Davao, waiting for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to begin, when this movie trailer started rolling. I found it so damn funny! It turned out to be the movie teaser of Mindanaoan Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao’s upcoming film entitled “Wapakman.”

And take note…Pacquiao will star in “Wapakman” alongside Pussycat Dolls lead Nicole Scherzinger and WWF’s Batista! Of course, we all know that Scherzinger is part-Pinay and Batista is proud of his Filipino roots as well.

Check out the teaser of Manny Pacquiao’s “Wapakman” movie:

The Pacman will start shooting this film next month, July. Topel Lee will direct.

I’m curious, though…will this movie be shown in time for the 2010 national elections?
