Hi guys! Thanks for visiting my humble blog about Mindanao and Mindanaoans
I know I haven’t been posting much the past few weeks…and I have good reason! Mindanaoan has been traveling here and there and more often than not, I end up being so tired to even lift a finger let alone write about my escapades.
Thankfully, this blogger from Mindanao is home (at least for the next few days) and I’m back to sharing with you all the sights and sounds of Mindanao.
One of the things that I got to do last week was travel to Camiguin Island, Mindanao. Along with my professional photographer-brother Bon and his assistant Gary, we covered a simple yet very romantic wedding in Camiguin, also known as the “Island Born of Fire.” It was the wedding of Erwin and Karen. Erwin’s from Bukidnon and Karen’s from Camiguin. Both of them work in CDO, though.
I served as Bon’s 2nd photographer. We arrived on a Friday and it was raining cats and dogs. The wedding was held the next day and it was STILL raining cats and dogs! So yes, covering the wedding – from the preparations to the ceremony to the reception was quite a challenge! However, all’s well that ends well
My brother Bon, Gary and I also treated ourselves with a quick trip to Ardent Hot Springs and then dinner at Parola.
Here’s the video slideshow presentation of their engagement photos by the way:

The Kapamilya Karavan 2009 in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao was a major success! The fun event, which was made possible by ABS CBN and SM City CDO, was held last August 28, 2009 (the very day CDO celebrated the Kagay-An Festival 2009!) at the Gran Via Lot, Pueblo de Oro. Virtually thousands and thousands of people came to watch the free show, which was the organizers’ way of thanking the public for their continuous support.
Mindanaoan was there because I was tapped to book two local bands (thank you, ABS CBN Manila!) Mindanaoan was also one of the official event photographers
[the other one that I got was my brother Bon hehe...but of course, right?
] Check out some of the photos that I took during the Kapamilya Karavan event in Cagayan de Oro below.
Apart from the M.O.R. deejays and MAG TV Ato Ni hosts, Kapamilya celebrities also came — John Lloyd Cruz, Maricar Reyes and Nikki Valdes. Enchong Dee was also supposed to come but the poor guy caught dengue so only a live phone patch was arranged that night. Enchong greeted the thousands of people while confined at St. Luke’s Hospital. Hopefully, he’s doing better now.
Dennis Padilla served as a guest host that night and Manila band Rivermaya also came. Unfortunately, it rained so heavily just when the celebrities were about to appear on stage so the show was cut short. Moreover, Rivermaya fans also got disappointed because their favorite band ended up not performing at all. The drum set and other sound equipment were too wet and the tech guys didn’t want to take a risk, lest that the electrical stuff get grounded.
Still, the night was successful and I warmly congratulate the ABS CBN Cagayan de Oro, ABS CBN Manila and SM City CDO staff for a job well done.
Cheers and I look forward to working with you again very soon!

During my PAL Express flight from the Cebu International Airport, Mactan to Cagayan de Oro Domestic Airport, I took some aerial shots. I got a window seat at that time (I was also supposed to have a window seat during my PAL Express CDO to Cebu flight but my seatmate, an elderly woman who confessed that it’s been so long since she last traveled by plane, looked pale and scared so I no longer insisted) so it was easy for me to take aerial shots of Cagayan de Oro City as our plane descended and prepared for landing.
Mindanaoan wishes to share these Cagayan de Oro City aerial shots:

So I just produced the photos I took during my very first wedding photography coverage gig. I was one of the photographers (and the only female photographer, I should say) during the Prestenbach Wedding in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao last December 28, 2008. (Yep, I guess I’m now a wedding photographer here in Mindanao!
) It was truly a great day – to be able to capture people and moments and to be a part of a nice couple’s memorable day. The Prestenbachs, a Germany-based couple, have been together for 15 great years and they’re thinking of moving here in the Philippines for good. The Prestenbachs have two lovely children. They also have this magnificent beachfront property in Baloy, Cagayan de Oro.
Here are some of my wedding photography photos:

I use a Nikon DSLR. I use two lenses – one Nikkor and one Sigma. I also have a wide angle lens that’s great for landscapes and microphotography.
I’m looking forward to doing more photography gigs here in Mindanao. Not just weddings, mind you. I also do fashion photography, portraits, food photography, nature/landscapes and events (one of my favorites so far especially since I’m an events organizer myself). So if you have a special event, please don’t hesitate to contact me
I would love to know how I can help make your special day even more memorable!
Oh yeah, before I forget, I work closely with my brother and his other photographer friends. Usually, there are 2-4 photographers in every wedding coverage. We can also refer you to a videographer here in Mindanao (the videographers we know are based in Cagayan de Oro but they can travel to just about anywhere, really. My brother’s photographer – videographer team has been to Davao City, Camiguin, Dipolog City, Iligan, Malaybalay City, Valencia City and neighboring towns here in Mindanao).
Contact me today or you can also call/text (+63) 919 238 6575. We’d love to hear more about your special event or wedding plans! And don’t worry, we offer highly affordable rates. All fees are negotiable, too!
So whether your wedding will be in Davao City, General Santos City, Zamboanga, Bukidnon (the Monastery of Transfiguration in Malaybalay City is a favorite of many!), Cagayan de Oro City, Butuan…name the place in Mindanao and we can go there. We can also travel to Visayas (we’ve covered events in Cebu City and my brother and his photographer-friends have conducted photography workshops in Cebu) and Luzon
