Mindanao is my native land. This is where I belong, feel secure and am at peace. To be in Mindanao is to feel the embrace of a warm, soft blanket.

Mindanaoan - Blogging the REAL Mindanao!

Gaisano Mall of Davao, one of the large malls in the world’s most livable city, now has a large, spacious cinema equipped with lazyboy (or rather La-Z-Boy) seats! For only P150.00, you can enjoy sitting on a very comfortable, cushiony seat with foot rest at the Red Carpet cinema!

The theater is very spacious and you get a lot of extra leg room. What I did notice, however, was that the seats come in two. Meaning if you’re going to watch a movie solo, there may be a possibility that someone else will also occupy the adjoining lazyboy seat. So I guess the Gaisano Mall of Davao Red Carpet cinema encourages catching flicks with a friend :) You also have your very own cup holder and extra space for small things (like perhaps your cellphone or car keys).

It’s not my first time to watch in a cinema with recliner seats or seats with foot rests, though. I like watching movies at Greenbelt Cinema in Makati and at Gateway Mall Cubao (the former has a cinema with recliner seats and foot rests) and my favorite so far – the Director’s Club at SM Mall of Asia. At the latter, you get your very own La-Z-Boy seat (solo!), the next seat is about a meter away (so you get the feeling that you’re in your very own recreation room) and you get unlimited popcorn and a drink. However, there’s a catch — tickets cost at least P300.00 So you see, the Gaisano Mall of Davao Red Carpet cinema ticket price of P150.00 is already A-OK :)

The Gaisano Mall of Davao Red Carpet cinema with lazyboy seats is located at the very entrance towards the cinema area at the topmost floor of the said Davao City mall. You can’t miss it – it’s the only one with a mini reception area (complete with a cute egg chair!) and well…fully carpeted floors :D

This is a long-delayed post, I know, since I’m pretty sure most of you have already watched this film (if you haven’t yet, you’re missing a whole damn lot!!!) However, I still want to write about this since I gave my word to Erickson Raymundo (one of the producers of the film, along with fellow Spring Films people Joyce Bernal and Piolo Pascual) that I’ll write about this. Kimmy Dora Kambal Sa Kiyeme was so damn funny, wasn’t it?

Erickson, you were right on the money! :)

Hearty congratulations to Eugene Domingo (you were so fab! I think you’re the only Pinay actress who successfully made my mom laugh so damn hard! LOL), Dingdong Dantes, Zanjoe Marudo (hello, six pack!), Miriam Quiambao (you surprised me!), Ariel Ureta and Baron Geisler!

My mom and I watched this flick in one of the theaters here in Mindanao. Eugene was so funny and Muy (the scene stealer maid of the rich Kimmy), who, incidentally, is Piolo’s real life personal assistant, was funny, too! My favorite part of the movie was when Ariel (Kimmy and Dora’s father) wanted to talk to both his daughters. Major laugh trip!!!

For those of you who have yet to watch the flick, Kimmy Dora is the tale of polar-opposite twin sisters, Kimmy and Dora (doh). Both of them are heiresses to the large Go Dong Hae fortune. And, of course, both of them are “linked” to the handsome Johnson, played by Dingdong Dantes.

Basta…if you haven’t watched this film yet, well there’s really one thing you ought to do…YOU MUST WATCH NOW NA! Kimmy Dora is by far the highest grossing independently produced film and I think it’s still showing in several theaters nationwide.

Mindanaoan recommends Kimmy Dora! :)

What about you…where you able to watch it? What are your thoughts about the film?

Well, this information’s straight from Erik Pineda, Manny Pacquiao’s business manager, so I guess this one’s true! Pacquiao is reportedly set to do a movie with Rambo himself, Sylvester “Sly” Stallone. In fact, the duo reportedly met at Stallone’s office in Los Angeles, California last January 6, 2009. During the meeting, Sly even gave the Pacman’s two sons, Jimwell and Michael, a pair of boxing gloves which bore the signature of former world light-heavyweight champion Tony Tarver. Still, this piece of development shouldn’t be treated as a 100-percent-fully-done-and-waxed type of deal. Everything’s still in the planning stage.

Erik Pineda was quoted as saying that it’s “not a boxing movie but something like ‘Rush Hour’ (a Jacky Chan-Chris Tucker hit.”

Looks like Manny, who’s a certified Mindanaoan by the way (since he was born in Kibawe, Bukidnon and grew up in General Santos City), is going to be a Hollywood star soon! Does this mean that Manny’s doing double time duty on polishing up his English skills?

While I’m not a huge Stallone fan (I think I’ve only watched one Rocky Balboa flick and that Rambo film…it takes a lot for me to be convinced that he can fight all those bad guys on his own, you know!), I’m still a bit excited over this idea of a Stallone-Pacquiao Hollywood movie. After all, Sly is an Academy Award-nominate actor and he STILL has lots of fans all over the world. And, of course, we all know how Filipinos all over the world love Pacman. This flick will definitely be worth watching out for.
