IT’S OFFICIAL. The Oro Association of Rafters (OAR) will now implement new and increased rates for white water rafting in Cagayan de Oro. These new CDO rafting rates will actually help the industry. Please read on so we may all understand 🙂
Back in January, I first wrote about the rate increase proposal. Now, I learned that the new CDO rafting rates have already been duly approved and that all of the rafting outfitters have started implementing them last October 1, 2016.
The new rates are as follows:
* Celebrities Aga Muhlach and Rowell Santiago try CDO rafting with Great White Water Tours
Basic rafting course / Lower section (2-3 hours) – Php 1,200 per person. Plus Php 200 if you want the package to include snack, lunch (or dinner). This is optional.
Advance rafting course / Mid section (3-4 hours) – Php 1,800.00 per person. Plus Php 200 if you want the package to include snack, lunch (or dinner). This is optional.
For rafting outfitters like Great White Water Tours, their rates are already inclusive of snack, lunch (or dinner), transportation (either from your CDO hotel to the rafting starting point and vice versa or from Divisoria area and vice versa), rafting safety gear and equipment (helmets, life vests, paddles) and skilled rafting guides.
All rafting companies follow these guidelines.
There is a required minimum number of people per raft which is 6. You can tell the rafting agency to merge you with another group.
OAR reasoned that there’s a need to increase the rates because it is imperative to address the wear and tear of the rafting equipment, which are usually sourced from overseas. There is also the need to invest more on safety since the LGU of CDO released new safety guidelines via Task Force Rapids. OAR also said that there is a need to invest more on the river guides via trainings and seminars in order to meet international standards.
