Did you know that just by shopping at Spruce, you can help raise awareness and help fight breast cancer? Now, shopping for a cause truly has greater meaning!
Spruce, one of my favorite lifestyle stores, has forged a partnership with Thrive CDO, a breast cancer awareness advocacy group in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao. In order to support Thrive CDO and its campaigns, Spruce has created a very special line of trendy, comfortable and very affordable shoes! The line is called Spruce PINKed and for every purchase of a pair, a portion of the money goes to Thrive CDO.
Actually, there's a personal reason behind this Spruce-Thrive CDO partnership. The Tamparong sisters, the amiable trio behind Spruce, found out that their mom Maridel was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010. The news pre...
I was so excited when I got an invitation to attend the grand launch of MAC Cosmetics Archie's Girls Spring Collection 2013 in Cebu City. The timing was perfect! I was actually in Cebu for the Social Media Influencers Summit 2013 and I always welcome additional events to attend especially if time permits it anyway. So I immediately said yes to the invite-only MAC Archie's Girls launch in Cebu!
The MAC Archie's Girls makeup collection 2013 Cebu launch was held last March 16, 2013 at the Ayala Center Cebu Activity Center. The place was packed with so many eager MAC Cosmetics fans!
I spotted TV host Bianca Gonzales, celebrity makeup artist Jigs Mayuga and fashion bloggers Kryz Uy and Camille Co. I also met Atty. Christina Garcia-Frasco, the daughter of Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia and ...

A lot of Filipinas love Korean beauty brands. Not only are they of very good quality but these Korean beauty products come in cute, eye-catching packaging and they're affordable. So it's pretty good news that one of the world's well-known Korean cosmetics brands has opened not just one but two (!) branches in Northern Mindanao.
Etude House recently opened their Cagayan de Oro City branches - the first was at Centrio Mall along Corrales Avenue and the second at SM City CDO - to the delight of so many ladies here in Mindanao.

Mindanaoan was invited to meet the What A Girl Wants (WAGW) CDO Young Ambassadors of Style 2012 last November 24, 2012 during the official launch of the WAGW Centrio Mall branch. It was an invitation I could never decline! Not only did I like the WAGW brand and the people behind it (did you know that popular Filipina fashion blogger Kryz Uy is their creative director?) and the organizers of the event (thank you Jaja and Vanessa!) but one of the style ambassadors was a dear friend and my brother (Bon of One Happy Story Photography) was the event's official photographer :) I was also asked to bring blogger-friends to the event and any event that makes it possible for bloggers to help promote great brands and products always has a plus on my book :)

And Mindanaoan is very lucky to be one of the invited guests! Check out the invitation I received. I also wrote about Watsons Centrio Mall in an earlier post.

Plus here's an additional fun fact: Watsons Centrio Mall is the very first Watsons store to have the latest d...

As I'm writing this, it's the 2nd day of Make Your Own Havaianas CDO 2012. So that means you have today and tomorrow to join MYOH CDO 2012! :) The Make Your Own Havaianas 2012 Cagayan de Oro leg covers Northern Mindanao and it kicked off yesterday, August 17, 2012. MYOH CDO 2012 will run until August 19, 2012 at the Limketkai Rotunda, Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines.
A Make Your Own Havaianas event is where you can customize your own pair of Havaianas flip flops. It's that time of the year when Havaianaticos are given the chance to choose their desired sole, strap and pins. In other words, it's a chance for Havaianas lovers to design their very own - truly unique - pair. Moreover, it's only during MYOH events when specially designed soles and unique pins can be bought :)
This year i...
Make Your Own Havaianas 2012 Cagayan de Oro edition! Yes, it's that time of year again! How fast time flies, eh? The much-awaited Make Your Own Havaianas 2012 CDO Northern Mindanao leg is set to happen on August 17 to 19, 2012, 10 AM onwards at the Rotunda area of Limketkai Mall, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao. Who wants to come with me? :)
I don't know about you but I'm pretty excited about this one! This will be my FOURTH time to join these fun-filled MYOH events. My very first Make Your Own Havaianas event was in 2009. That pair of flip flops is still, to this day, one of my favorite pairs. For the uninitiated, Make Your Own Havaianas events is where you can create or customize your very own pair of Havaianas flip flops :)
I also joined the Make Your Own Havaianas 2010 and...
If you listen to the news on Mindanao, the most likely reaction is that you’ll hesitate to come here. Much less choose to live here. But given the direness of the news on the peace and order situation here, have you ever wondered if there are perks to living in Mindanao? Actually, what’s so terrible in the news is merely a microcosm of Mindanao society. Given the largeness of the island and the number of regions, cities, and cultures that are found in Mindanao, you might want to take the news with a grain of salt the next time.
Mindanao is generally a peaceful place. The members of the populace are satisfied with their lives, and commerce and trade are smoothly moving along. The economics show a due representation from the filthy rich to poverty level poor, but people manage to get by. ...
It's official, folks! :)
I have been chosen by the U.S. Department of State to visit the United States of America as a participant in the International Visitor Leadership Program or IVLP. I will leave for the U.S. on March 3, 2012 and will stay there until the first week of April 2012 :)
Actually, the program that I will be a part of will only run for 3 weeks but I plan to stay a bit more to savor the sights and sounds of the USA. During the 3-week program, I will visit Washington, Orlando Florida, Salt Lake City Utah and Portland Oregon. I plan to visit New York and Virginia as well :)
Do any of you guys out there live in these areas? I would love to meet you! :) Let me know through the comments section below.
And oh, did I mention that I'm the ONLY Filipino and the only femal...
Hi folks, may I warmly invite you all to visit the newest all-day breakfast place to open for business in Cagayan de Oro City - Happy Eggs CDO!
Before anything else, please allow me to quickly offer you guys 3 reasons as to why you should come and visit Happy Eggs CDO:
1. their "silog" meals all have TWO EGGS cooked just the way you like them! (sunny side up, scrambled etc)

3. they have quite the interesting menu! (where else can you find an eatery that serves dried fish such as pinikas and red sal and even pansit canton? Aaah, we all crave for BULAD sometimes, don't we? :) Plus - talk about bud...
I've been tweeting about Typhoon Sendong since yesterday, Saturday, December 17, 2011. You can see my Mindanaoan Twitter account here --- http://www.twitter.com/mindanaoan
So much have happened ever since I woke up yesterday. Survived strong rains and winds, endured hours of brownout, found out that we didn't have water supply, found out that our humble house in Cagayan de Oro City also got damaged and that we have no choice but to face business losses. Still, my family and I have so much to be thankful for. All of us are safe. And all of us are alive and able to help out those in need.
If you also want to do your share and help the victims of Typhoon Sendong (International Name: Tropical Storm Washi) in Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City, Mindanao (where more than 500 persons are f...
I know, I know...this is a super delayed post. My apologies! I've been traveling a whole lot the past few days and I've also been very busy with some projects (more on these later). I do know, however, that I absolutely must write about this, no matter how briefly.

Christmas activities here and there! Have you done your Christmas shopping yet? I've already finished my initial Christmas shopping tasks but you guys know how it is during Christmas --- nothing's ever enough! It's the season for good food, time with family and friends, merriment and loads and loads of shopping trips!
This season, why not hunt for bargains in the second “CDO CHRISTMAS BAZAAR – Handog Pamasko sa Kagay-an” at the Magsaysay Park, Divisoria. The Christmas bazaar will formally open on December 9, 2011. The Christmas bazaar, which will kick off with a variety show featuring local talents and artists, is a joint project of the Cagayan de Oro City local government and select students of the School of Business and Management - Xavier University. This CDO Christmas bazaar activit...
Along with several CDO Bloggers, I witnessed the launch of the SM ChriSMs campaign and the SM Christmas Centerpiece Light Up Ceremony at SM Cagayan de Oro City last November 12, 2011. This CDO event served as the official launch of the Christmas season in all SM Supermalls around the country.
Top regional and local SM officials were on hand to grace the event. Bossa nova singer Sitti Navarro and Mr. Christmas himself - Santa Claus! - were also there. Right after the light up ceremony, a lot of families had their photos taken at the SM CDO centerpiece.
I was able to take a video using my trusty Flip mino:
Here are some photos during the SM CDO Christmas Light Up Ceremony:

If you guys remember, Mindanaoan.com bagged the Best Lifestyle Blog for Mindanao award last year during the 2010 Philippine Blog Awards :) A lot of people sent in their congratulatory messages at the time including Senator Kiko Pangilinan :) Unfortunately, I was not able to accept my award in person. Let's see if I get lucky this year ;)
By the way, because of my nomination to the 2011 Philippine Blog Awards for Mindanao, I now have an invit...

Is Mindanao Philippines ready for another Hollywood film shooting? Which area or areas in Mindanao can easily be a great location for the next big Hollywood movie?
I can't help but think about these after I read that Jeremy Renner, Rachel Weisz and a couple of other Hollywood actors and actresses are set to arrive in Manila, Philippines early next year for the shooting of "The Bourne Legacy."
According to the Film Development Council of the Philippines, "Bourne Legacy" will shoot scenes in Manila, Philippines by January 2012. The movie is set for release sometime August 2012. "The Bourne Legacy" also stars Rachel Weisz, Albert Finney and...get this...Edward Norton! (I just love, love, love Edward Norton!)
Forty year old Jeremy Renner (of "Hurt Locker" fame and a two time Oscar Awa...
