Visiting Davao City, Mindanao soon? My mom, some of her students and I were in my hometown Davao City a few days ago and we visited the Davao Crocodile Park. Located at Riverfront Corporate City, Diversion Road, Ma-a, this popular Davao City tourist spot is a must-visit place in Mindanao. My 3 younger brothers and I all loved to draw, paint and sketch. However, our father taught us how to further hone our skills. My father was a very talented illustrator. I used "was" because he died several years ago, back when I was still in college. He was an amazing artist - with just a charcoal pencil and a blank sheet of paper, he could whip up a very detail-oriented drawing of a hen taking care of its chicks in just a few minutes. He could sketch a portrait oh so effortlessly. He didn't like to trace and he seldom used an eraser. He drew from the heart. I, Mindanaoan, am off to Mars! Mars as in planet Mars ha? Yup, yup, yup! For real! I just included my name in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology website of NASA. So now my name is one of the many included on a microchip on the Mars Science Laboratory rover heading to Mars in year 2011! Yehey! :) As soon as I keyed in my name, country and zip code, I got a certificate as proof that my name will be in the microchip of the rover that will be off to Mars 2 years from now. Mindanao pride Manny Pacquiao to star in “Wapakman”

All right, so I was in Cinema 3 of Gaisano Mall of Davao, waiting for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen to begin, when this movie trailer started rolling. I found it so damn funny! It turned out to be the movie teaser of Mindanaoan Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao's upcoming film entitled "Wapakman." And take note...Pacquiao will star in "Wapakman" alongside Pussycat Dolls lead Nicole Scherzinger and WWF's Batista! Of course, we all know that Scherzinger is part-Pinay and Batista is proud of his Filipino roots as well. Check out the teaser of Manny Pacquiao's "Wapakman" movie: The Pacman will start shooting this film next month, July. Topel Lee will direct. I'm curious, though...will this movie be shown in time for the 2010 national elections?

MINDANAO - A few weeks ago, my family and I celebrated our brother's birthday by trying the most talked about Xcelerator over at Outland Adventure, Davao City, Mindanao. The Outland Adventure Xcelerator is said to be the longest speed zip line in all of Asia! Cool, right? We arrived at Outland Adventure Davao City half an hour before noon. As it turned out, we missed the "cut-off" time so we had to wait until they re-opened at roughly 1:30 pm. The more than an hour wait was all right --- we just kept ourselves busy taking photos. I finally "reunited" with my friend Jane, whom I met in Camiguin Island, Mindanao about a year ago. She's also a Mindanao-based events organizer like me and she specializes in events in the Lanao del Norte area.
