It's been more than 2 weeks since their highly successful Cagayan de Oro, Philippines show but this Filipina travel and lifestyle blogger is still buzzin'! Yes, folks, I'm still on a high! :D As you guys may know, Mindanaoan.com was an official media partner of the All 4 One and Color Me Badd back-to-back concert last September 10, 2011 at the Atrium of the Limketkai Center in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao, Philippines. It was a major thing for a certified fan like myself --- not only did I get to meet the boys up close and personal (OMG!!!), spend time with them and see their real, offstage personas, I also had the chance to gather autographs, take lots of photos and...*drum roll please*...meet them again in Manila before they flew out for Los Angeles! *cartwheels* I will share with...

Remember my earlier totally fan girl mode blog entry about me wanting oh-so-badly to watch the upcoming All 4 One and Color Me Badd concert (and basically wanting to stalk Color Me Badd)? (A lot of my faithful Mindanaoan.com readers left comments on that blog entry and some also sent me nice, sweet messages through my official Facebook page! Aww :) ) Well, it seemed my lucky stars shone brightly that day and thanks to the positive vibes you guys sent, I have fabulous news to share with all of you! Mindanaoan.com is an official media partner of the All 4 One and Color Me Badd Live in Cagayan de Oro Philippines concert!!! :D (Just imagine that sentence as if it's blinking and there are fireworks behind the words HAHAHA!!! Yup, that's HOW excited I am!!! I already did a lot of cartwheels, ...

Amid other big news today, the reported resignation of Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri was the most talked about. A lot of people shared their reactions to the news that the senator from Bukidnon and fellow Mindanaoan Senator Migs Zubiri will resign amid allegations of poll fraud claims. Mindanaoan wrote a blog post about this earlier. As I previously mentioned, I called up some key people from the Zubiri camp. I also even contacted Senator Migs Zubiri himself. However, although I was privy to some important details, I refused to confirm anything pending the privilege speech of Senator Miguel Zubiri before the Senate plenary, which happened today, August 3, 2011. I was also told that his father, former Bukidnon governor now vice governor Jose Ma. Zubiri, Jr., mother Maria Victoria "Vicky," w...

A few weeks ago, this Mindanao blog broke the news about former Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila president and very first Filipino Muslim scholar-graduate of Harvard University Atty. Adel Tamano being the new Dean of the College of Law of Liceo University, Cagayan de Oro City, Northern Mindanao. Boy, that blog entry attracted a whole lotta traffic and it was shared so many times in various social networking websites! (thank you everybody! :D) Now, you might think that because of this new gig, Sir Adel has really bid adieu to limelight. Think again. Atty. Adel Tamano is the newest host to join ANC or the ABS CBN News Channel. He will soon have a primetime show on ANC. First airing is tentatively set on July 7, 2011 at 7:30 PM. The title of the show isn't fixed yet, apparently. Sir Adel d...

You heard the theme song. You got intrigued when you heard this - "kaya mo bang mahalin ang isang taong mawawala din sayo?" And, by now, it's likely that you've memorized this line - "Thank you for yesterday. Thank you for today. And if I forget, thank you for tomorrow." Yes, it seems you're ready to fall in love on June 15, 2011. KC Concepcion and Sam Milby will topbill one of the most awaited movies of this year, the Star Cinema offering "Forever And A Day." Truth be told, I think this KC Concepcion and Sam Milby starrer is THE most awaited movie here in Mindanao - primarily because they shot this flick in 3 key areas in Mindanao - Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro City and Iligan City (who wouldn't be excited to see familiar places? Plus think about what this film will do for Mindanao tou...

ARMM Elections 2011 official list of candidates. Here are the names of candidates for the 2011 ARMM elections, tentatively planned to happen on August 8, 2011. I say tentatively because Philippine President Benigno Aquino III and the rest of Malacanang are trying their best to move for the postponement of the ARMM elections. PNoy is proposing that the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao elections be reset for synchronization with the 2013 midterm polls. Qualified ARMM voters are set to choose the Regional Governor, Regional Vice-Governor and Regional Assemblyman during the ARMM elections 2011. Is Tingting Cojuangco qualified to run for ARMM Vice Governor?

If she wins, she may very well be the most stylish vice governor the ARMM has ever had. Unfortunately, style is not enough to win in ARMM. Margarita “Tingting” Cojuangco surprised, befuddled a lot of people (including me) when she officially filed on Saturday her certificate of candidacy for vice governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). Yes, Tingting Cojuangco, former Tarlac governor, socialite, philanthropist and one who was labeled in the 70's as one of Harper Bazaar's most beautiful women in the world, wants to be the ARMM vice governor. Why? Because, she says, she has given her life "to the Muslims for the past 26 years." She says she also wants to "bring about change to the ARMM by embarking on good governance, education and honesty." As of press time, two...

Liceo de Cagayan University or LDCU, the first private, non sectarian university in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao, just hired the very first Filipino Muslim scholar graduate of Harvard University. Atty. Adel Tamano, former President of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM), former spokesperson of the United Opposition (and last year, of the Nacionalista Party) and yes, former senatorial candidate, is now the new Dean of the College of Law of Liceo University. If you're a regular reader of my humble blog, you'd know that I consider Atty. Aquil Tamano a dear friend. I met him during the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, which was held in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao in 2009. His brother, former Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) President and former senatorial candidate Atty. Adel Tamano, accepted my invitation to grace the said event and deliver a special message. That fateful day was the beginning of what I can proudly call a good friendship. I also later on met Sir Aquil's wife, Inee, who's as equally as nice as he is. She's pregnant, by the way, and their precious one is due on February 2011! :D Anyways, fast forward to November 2010, great opportunities went Sir Aquil's way. First, I heard that he became the lawyer of some GMA 7 artists in...

I must admit that even a few days after my humble Mindanaoan.com blog won as Best Lifestyle Blog for Mindanao in the Philippine Blog Awards 2010, I still am on cloud 9. While a lot of people have already congratulated me (and I still continue to receive several congratulatory messages until now) and even my ever-supportive Mama has already made plans to have a special tarp printed and displayed (yikes! :D), nothing prepared me for an absolutely wonderful surprise I got yesterday. November 6, 2010, the very day of a blogging 101 workshop that I organized, was made extra special when someone sent in this video message that did not only make my cheeks burn but make my heart melt as well :) No less than Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan congratulated me! Yes, THE Senator Kiko Pangili...

Advocacy, Bisaya, Blogging, Bukidnon, Commentary, Controversial, Features, Government, Headline, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Marawi City, Media, Mindanaoan Artists, Mindanaoan Update, Musings, Muslim Mindanao, Opinion, Personal, Personalities, Politics
With just a few hours before May 10, 2010 - the very day the Philippines is set to hold its first ever automated elections - I, Mindanaoan, would like to share to you two choices I've already made. I'm set to vote for these two senatorial candidates and I'm proud to let you know that both of them are from Mindanao. Both Mindanaoans and both I've had the utmost honor to work with. I'm voting for Adel Tamano (#54 on the ballot) and Neric Acosta (#1 on the ballot). Before I delve into the finer details as to why I'm voting for these senatoriables from Mindanao, let me quote something from respected columnist Manolo Quezon III (my idol!): "The job of a senator is not just about legislation, it’s about oversight, with the latter being more relevant and required than the former. The House...

Senatorial candidate Atty. Adel Tamano says he's very grateful and humbled upon learning that Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is extending his full support on his candidacy. “I am undoubtedly grateful to Mayor Duterte. His endorsement means a lot to me and I am very humbled by the fact that he trusts and believes in me and in what I can do not only for Mindanao but for the entire country,” Tamano enthused, adding that since Davao City loves its chief executive, he’s hopeful that the Dabawenyos will also extend their full support on his candidacy and to the rest of the Nacionalista Party. Tamano, the first ever Filipino Muslim scholar-graduate of Harvard Law School and youngest president of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, is a proud son of Marawi City. “Mayor Duterte’s end...

Nacionalista Party senatorial candidate Atty. Adel Tamano recently met with several members of the Davao City, Mindanao traditional and new media. The young senatoriable, who hails from Marawi City and is the first ever Filipino Muslim scholar-graduate of Harvard Law School, was recently in my hometown Davao City for the 3rd National Ulama Conference. Tamano got the support of the ulamas, by the way, and there are strong talks that the 5 million Filipino Muslims will support the Adel Tamano for Senator Movement. Adel Tamano, by the way, is the son of the late Senator Mamintal Tamano. Atty. Adel Tamano is also the former president of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, where he introduced so many changes.
