Our Pambansang Kamao, world boxing champ Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao, recently guested over at Jimmy Kimmel Live! Jimmy Kimmel Live! is a late night talk show aired over at ABC in the U.S. and hosted by...who else...funny man Jimmy Kimmel himself. I was able to watch Manny Pacquiao's interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! via a video sent to me by a friend in the U.S. If you want to check out the transcription I made, check out my Twitter account for my blow-by-blow account :) In my opinion, Filipino boxing champ Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao had a good time --- in fact, he never stopped smiling and laughing all throughout the interview! Pacman also shared fun statements during the interview. He said things like he has a dog named Pacman, his superhero character "Wapakman" has a lot of superpowers, t...

Today, October 15, 2009, is Blog Action Day 2009. Blog Action Day is an annual event held every October 15 that aims to unite all the bloggers of the world and encourage them to post about the same issue on the very same day. This, in the hope to ignite discussions about that particular issue and to inspire people to take action. This year, the topic for Blog Action Day 2009 is Climate Change. I, Mindanaoan, am joining thousands of other Pinoy bloggers for the Blog Action Day 2009 - Philippines Edition. And we Filipinos of all people know very well just how devastating the effects of climate change are. After our harrowing experience with tropical storms Ondoy (international name: Ketsana) and Pepeng (international name: Parma), we should no longer put this issue of climate change a...

Take You To The Philippines music video by Black Eyed Peas member Apl de Ap

I think these days, more than ever, we Filipinos need to promote our country. Despite the devastation caused by Tropical Storm Ondoy (international code name: Ketsana), we have all seen the spirit of unity and camaraderie in times of crisis. It may take a long time before we can finally recover but we will get there. We just need prayers, political will and unity. May this "Take You To The Philippines" music video by Black Eyed Peas member and fellow Pinoy Apl de Ap inspire you all. It's reportedly part of the tourism campaign of Sec. Ace Durano and the Department of Tourism. No mention of a Mindanao city in the song but it's aight :) I like this pretty catchy ditty :) Enjoy! p.s. Congratulations and thank you to Apl de Ap and to the Black Eyed Peas. Congratulations to Sec. Ace, t...

Mindanaoan still can't concentrate well. As much as I want to work and attend to various other matters, I still can't help but log on to Twitter via Tweetdeck (which I highly recommend that you Twitter-holics use, by the way) and check how the search and rescue as well as the relief goods distribution efforts for Typhoon Ondoy victims are doing. I keep on retweeting helpful information as much as I can and it warms my heart to see so many private citizens doing their share in helping the victims. Interestingly, though, I received a comment today in my "Advertise" page from a person who calls himself "ew." I reckon he's from Luzon. So far, a lot of deaths has already been reported and with another typhoon set to visit the country in the next 3 days (yes, unfortunately!), we really need to unite and help each other. Even though we're here in Mindanao, it is still our duty as Filipinos to help out. So please, I want to enjoin you all to please donate. The victims of Typhoon Ondoy need all the help they can get. You can donate through these measures: Donate to the Red Cross Rescue and Relief Operations. Te...

Joey De Leon, Vic Sotto react to Willie Revillame’s decision to have the live feed of President Cory’s cortege removed

Controversial, Internet, Journalism, Media, Mindanaoan Update, Personalities, Technology, Videos
I just knew that it would only take a matter of time before Joey de Leon, one of the hosts in the GMA 7 noontime show "Eat Bulaga," gives his (violent) reaction on the controversial decision of Willie Revillame to have the live feed of President Cory Aquino's cortege from La Salle Greenhills to Manila Cathedral removed. The cortege was aired simultaneously with Revillame's noontime show "Wowowee" aired via ABS CBN Channel 2. We all know that Joey and Willie aren't exactly "good friends" so I guess this "parinig" that he made, along with co-host Vic Sotto, is but expected of Joey de Leon. Check out the video below. Notable line --- "ang baboy, kahit pagsuotin mo pa yan ng ginto, baboy pa rin" OUCH.

Manila Bulletin "killed" President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo! What do you think of this and what do you think will happen to the section editor of Manila Bulletin? Check out the photo found in this entry. Notice the caption: “With utmost care. Military honor guard carefully moves the coffin of President Arroyo out of the Manila Cathedral.” The controversial Manila Bulletin photo was published in the early edition, page 20. However, I was told that the section containing the picture was promptly removed from the newspaper sets distributed in Visayas ...

Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero on the passing of Tita Cory

This is the full statement of opposition senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero on the passing of former President Corazon Aquino: I join the whole country in extending my sympathies on the passing of a humble and noble woman, former President Corazon C. Aquino. Their loss is the loss of every Filipino. In democracy's darkest hour, she joined many others in confronting a repressive dictatorship. Her willingness to accept the daunting challenge of running in 1986 served as a catalyst for an unprecedented bloodless uprising that would lead to the restoration of democracy and the reinstitution of the many freedoms we enjoy and cherish today. History tells us that our first woman head of state an uplifting figure who inspired her countrymen to begin the arduous task of rebuilding our nation. Ex...
