Declared by the officials of the Guinness Book of World Records as the new "world's shortest living man," Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte resident Junrey Balawing celebrated his 18th birthday last June 12, 2011 (a day before the Philippine Independence Day). The Guinness people officially measured the Zamboangueno, however, on the eve of his birthday at Sindangan Health Center, Sindangan township, Zamboanga Del Norte, Mindanao. Here's another reason for all of us Mindanaoans to rejoice and certainly be proud of our fellow Mindanao residents! A school in Mindanao is gunning to be a part of the renowned Guinness Book of World Records! Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) in Iligan City, Mindanao will attempt the "Most Number of People Singing the National Anthem Simultaneously" on September 1, 2009. The event, which will start at 9AM, will be held at the MSU-IIT Gymnasium and organizers are urging interested participants to wear white shirts and maong pants. Organizers of this Guinness World Records attempt are hoping to gather at least 3,000 people.
