If you're a regular reader of my humble blog, you'd know that I consider Atty. Aquil Tamano a dear friend. I met him during the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, which was held in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao in 2009. His brother, former Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) President and former senatorial candidate Atty. Adel Tamano, accepted my invitation to grace the said event and deliver a special message. That fateful day was the beginning of what I can proudly call a good friendship. I also later on met Sir Aquil's wife, Inee, who's as equally as nice as he is. She's pregnant, by the way, and their precious one is due on February 2011! :D

Annual SMART awards showcase wireless applications that empower communities
Engineering students from 20 top colleges and universities across the country have submitted a total of 90 wireless applications in response to Smart Communications, Inc.’s (SMART) challenge to create solutions following the theme of the 6th SWEEP Innovation and Excellence Awards, “Empowering Communities through Wireless Technologies.”
From these entries, 10 have been selected to advance into the finals scheduled on February 5 and 6 next year at the A. Venue Hall in Makati City. Here's another reason for all of us Mindanaoans to rejoice and certainly be proud of our fellow Mindanao residents! A school in Mindanao is gunning to be a part of the renowned Guinness Book of World Records! Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) in Iligan City, Mindanao will attempt the "Most Number of People Singing the National Anthem Simultaneously" on September 1, 2009.
The event, which will start at 9AM, will be held at the MSU-IIT Gymnasium and organizers are urging interested participants to wear white shirts and maong pants. Organizers of this Guinness World Records attempt are hoping to gather at least 3,000 people.
