Bukidnon, Mindanao no longer means just pineapples, cool climate and lush greenery. It’s now home to the longest zipline in AsiaDahilayan Adventure Park’s Zipzone! I know that Mindanaoan has featured this piece of news way back in September but ZipZone offers new and exciting adventure that it deserves to be continually promoted, yes? Besides, two of my friends got featured on the front page of Inquirer because of this new Mindanao tourist destination!

Say hello to my fellow thrill seekers Moi and Des: (photo courtesy of Inquirer/Cai Panlilio)

Fast facts about this zipline adventure in Northern Mindanao:

- Dual Carrying cables each 840 meters long point to point

- Safety cable also 840 meters long

- Total length of cables: 2,460 meters

- Elevation drop: 100meters

How to get to ZIPZONE Extreme Zip Line Adventure – Manolo Fortich is about an hour’s drive away from Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao. As soon as you reach Alae (one landmark would be the Alae footbath…all vehicles entering the Bukidnon province will need to stop at the footbath area), take note of a rotunda. You will see this before you reach the Alae bridge. Take this road. Go straight ahead until you reach Camp Philips (this is where most Del Monte employees live). Drive further until you reach Dahilayan.

        Zipline Safety???

Are ziplines safe? This is the single, most-important question you can ask about the whole zipline industry. The answer is quite simple: it depends.

Ziplines are very safe when they are (a) installed by ethical and competent professionals, who are working within the respected engineering standards, (b) when the materials used in the creation of the zipline, such as the steel cable and the helmets and harnesses, are provided by legitimate dealers, (c) when the zipline is managed and owned by competent, well-trained staff who take good care of the guests and the zipline infrastructure.

Ziplines are dangerous when they are installed informally by people who have no idea what they are doing, who cut costs by using substandard equipment, and when the zipline is run by people who are poorly trained, overworked, in a big rush, or apathetic about the safety of their guests.–From Internet–

      • Taga Mindanao says:

@Cer – Hello, from Davao bus terminal, it’s just 1 ride lang. Ride the bus going to Cagayan de Oro via BUDA. Stop at Malaybalay City. Fare is around P300 pag aircon. From Malaybalay bus terminal, just ride motorela/multicab around the city. Malaybalay is where most of the activities will be held.

          • Taga Mindanao says:

Hi Sam, from Malaybalay, you can ride a bus towards Cagayan de Oro. Stop at the ALAE junction. From there, you can take a habal-habal motorcycle towards Dahilayan or you can rent a multicab. From Alae, it will take about half an hour to reach Zipzone. Have fun there!
