Missy Bon Bon in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao, Philippines is no longer just known for their delicious pastries and gelato. These days, the charming Missy Bon Bon breadshop and gelato store is also known as the home of CDO’s latest pasalubong delicacy – pastel!
Pastel is a soft, sweet filled bun. For many years, pastel became the preferred pasalubong in Northern Mindanao. The entire fascination over this delicious bun started when a family produced yema-filled pastels in Camiguin Island. Word about these delicious buns spread and eventually, tourists began lugging around boxes and boxes of these sweet treats as pasalubong.
Fortunately for those in CDO, you need not go to Camiguin Island just to buy these delicious pasalubong delicacies.
Missy Bon Bon has finally released their own version of this popular pasalubong. The Missy Bon Bon pastel is a chewy, golden brown bun filled with sweet, rich custard.
How rich? Look:
When I tried the Missy Bon Bon pastel just a few days ago, I can really say that these taste way, WAY better than the more established brand. The pastel buns are fluffy yet full. They’re also baked just right!
The Missy Bon Bon pastel is part of the breadshop’s new line of pasalubong treats. The pastels are sold in brightly colored boxes of 6’s and 12’s.
Missy Bon Bon Breadshop is located in Rosario Drive, Lim Ket Kai Center, and has stalls at G/F Robinson’s Cagayan de Oro and G/F Gaisano Mall.
If ever you’ve bought and tasted some, please let me know what you think! I’d love to hear your feedback 🙂
