Aquil Tamano joins the Games and Amusements Board

If you’re a regular reader of my humble blog, you’d know that I consider Atty. Aquil Tamano a dear friend. I met him during the Mindanao Bloggers Summit 3, which was held in Cagayan de Oro City, Mindanao in 2009. His brother, former Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) President and former senatorial candidate Atty. Adel Tamano, accepted my invitation to grace the said event and deliver a special message. That fateful day was the beginning of what I can proudly call a good friendship. I also later on met Sir Aquil’s wife, Inee, who’s as equally as nice as he is. She’s pregnant, by the way, and their precious one is due on February 2011! 😀

Anyways, fast forward to November 2010, great opportunities went Sir Aquil’s way. First, I heard that he became the lawyer of some GMA 7 artists including Mark Herras. Then, he told me that he accepted an offer to co-host a radio program on DZRJ. His show, dubbed “Universal Access to Justice,” is held every Thursday and his co-host is Atty. Bodi Pulido.

And then, just a few days ago, I got fabulous news — Aquil Tamano was appointed member of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB)! GAB is in-charge of supervising and regulating the conduct of professional sports such as basketball and boxing.

And here’s another reason why I’m elated with this piece of news – Mohammad Aquil Tamano (that’s his full name) is a fellow Mindanaoan 🙂 He was formerly a lecturer at the Mindanao State University College of Law and was an Assistant Provincial Prosecutor in Lanao del Sur, Mindanao.

To Sir Aquil – congratulations! I’m so sure you’ll do a wonderful job as GAB commissioner! And to the GAB officials and employees – please welcome Sir Aquil with open arms. He’s pretty harmless and a really fun guy to work with! He’s kalog, I swear! Hehe 😀 And he has a wealth of absolutely interesting trivia 🙂
