I attended the Senator Chiz Escudero and Heart Evangelista wedding a few days ago. I have known Senator Chiz ever since he was still a congressman representing Sorsogon (yep, a very long time) so I was really thrilled to know that I was to witness this special, joyous occasion of his life.
I know a lot of other media outlets have discussed the nitty gritty details of the Escudero-Ongpauco wedding (Heart’s real name is Love Marie Ongpauco) so I will just share a few thoughts and observations.
The event saw lots of notable personalities – from top business leaders to government officials to celebrities, the food and the free flowing drinks were exquisite, venue was breathtaking (the candelabras adorned with white orchids, hydrangeas and snapdragons were absolutely beautiful), the upside down chandelier wedding cake was an instant hit and the artists who sang that night including Regine Velasquez, Jaya and Gary Valenciano were amazing.
The highlight of the day for me, though, was when Senator Chiz did a double take when he saw me. WIN! At least my DIY makeup and styling efforts weren’t for naught! 🙂 Believe me, this “bukid girl” struggles every time I need to put on makeup and doll myself up!
I know a lot have been said about the nuptials but let me share a few “insider” infos: GMA 7 Network engaged the couple with a paid contract for the rights to air the wedding and for exclusivity of coverage (the wedding specials will be aired on March 1 and 8), some supplier services were free including gowns as well as photography and videography services, products that Heart endorses were given away as souvenirs and the artists who performed are friends who lent their services for free. I also know that Senator Chiz asked event stylist Badang Rueda for a huge discount! Money-wise moves by the groom 🙂
Thank you Senator Chiz and Heart for inviting me! I truly had a wonderful time. May the good Lord bless your union and see you again real soon 🙂
