Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) took home a total of 18 citations at the recently concluded 2015 Philippine Quill Awards. Smart bagged citations for various marketing, human resources, and corporate social responsibility programs.
Organized by the International Association of Business Communicators-Philippines, the Philippine Quill Awards recognizes excellence in professional communication.
Presented with excellence awards in two categories – advertising campaigns and marketing communication – was the launch campaign for SPINNR. The homegrown music service has influenced the music-listening habits of Filipinos by offering affordable streaming packages for as low as P2.50 per day, on top of free radio, exclusive promos, merchandise, meet-and-greet opportunities, and concert events by the biggest names in local and foreign music.
Also accorded the excellence award was the event Drop 600, where mall-goers were dared to “take a leap of faith” and drop P600 inside a box. A woman took the dare and was surprised with a bag of SPINNR merchandise, two VIP tickets to Taylor Swift’s concert, an iPad Mini, iPhone 5C, portable speakers, and a year’s worth of unlimited music streaming via SPINNR.
The video of the event which became viral online got a merit award, under the category digital communication channels.
Project Evolver, a Sun Cellular postpaid campaign highlighting convenient and affordable mobile Internet services, won an excellence award under the category digital communication channels, and a merit citation under the marketing communication category.
Another excellence awardee was Talk ‘N Text Panalo Ka Pilipinas, a nationwide campaign reinforcing the brand essence of “Araw-Araw Panalo” to the mass market, through fiesta tours and Anibersaya activities.
Smart’s human resources programs also collected excellence awards. Paskong Pasasalamat was Smart’s 2014 Christmas and yearend celebration where employees were encouraged to help rebuild the lives of Yolanda survivors.
People Festival was an event celebrating Smart employees’ passion and commitment. It also highlighted Smart’s talent referral program, e-learning portal, idea generation portal, online magazine, and commendation portal.
SmartSpeak is the official news channel for Smart employees, comprised of an online portal and a magazine.
Receiving merit citations were the videos Our Smart Story, which launched Smart’s new vision, mission and values; and Abot Alam, a music video encouraging out-of-school youth to sign up with a program aiming to match them with opportunities for education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
Sustaining efforts for the Jump In campaign, last year’s top awardee for the communication management division, won a merit award. Jump In encourages the youth to go for their dreams and embrace changes that would allow them to “Live More.”
Other merit awardees are the following:
Doon Po Sa Amin, a program encouraging the youth to use technology to promote unique stories about their hometown;
GameX e-Sports Week, an internal competition for gamers within the Smart community;
Product Lifecycle Management Redesign & Awareness Campaign, a program meant to boost Smart’s response to its customers’ needs and growing demands;
#SafePH, Smart’s disaster preparedness and emergency response program which was put to the test by Supertyphoon Yolanda; and
Smart’s Community Preparedness Program, a two-pronged initiative that builds the capacity of local government units to better prepare for, mitigate, and respond to disasters, and promotes a culture of preparedness among families in vulnerable communities.
